Hundred Acre Wood
Boarding and Riding

Yes, despite the slow start to the cold
season - (and my sad attempts at poetry)-
winter is now upon us! Shaggy coats, blankets,
frozen water buckets, ice, and frosty muzzles
are now a part of the norm around here.
Work on the indoor has come nearly to a
halt- we were able to get a few more trusses
together before too much snow came. So, the
plan is to finish the remaining four trusses as
soon as the weather allows, put the roofing back
on, call in the crane to move the reassembled
trusses with roofing, put up the walls, and call
the crane back to put the trusses back on. Easy-
Peasy-Lemon-Squeezy. With no guarantees
and depending on the weather, we are HOPING
to have it done by May or June! We appreciate
everyone’s help and patience- we figured three
years to get it down, moved, and up....
On another note, the horses are faring well
this winter, despite the recent amount of snow
and cold weather! Everyone is happy in their
blankets or natural furry coats. Dave’s “new”
system for watering is working out great- he has
a spare tank on the forklifts, fills it, and drives it
around to whichever tank needs it, cutting the
tank-filling time in half. You will notice electric
heaters in all of the tanks- they are on timers, so
if you see one that’s not “hot” at the moment, it
will be at some point in the day. If you see one
that has come out of the tank please let us
know.
The ring is still useable- the alternating
coats of snow and melting have made the
footing deep but not too bad-so if you are up to
braving a winter ride, come on over!
As always, we thank you for your business
and look forward to serving your horsey needs
in 2011!
