Hundred Acre Wood is home to Clary Connemaras, a breeding program for the lovely Connemara pony. These ponies, natives of Ireland, are renowned throughout the world for their hardiness, intelligence, athletic ability, and suitability as a child's mount. As instructors and horse enthusiasts, we felt that this breed would provide the characteristics so often sought after by amateur horse owners and riders. Our first purchase was made in 2004, when we bought our young stallion, Woodchuck Ridge's Kirby Brown (Irish Park's Caraway Finn x Prospect's Bonnie Brown) from Pat Reichle of Ohio. As soon as he arrived, "Jack" fit right in at our farm, enjoying the activity and surroundings. His pedigree boasts the famous Hideaway's Erin Smithereen line, well known for the eventing horses Erin Go Braugh and Black Points Tilly Go Braugh; as well as the foundation lines of the imported stallion Bobby Brown. Jack has produced three wonderful offspring for us so far, and we are looking forward to this year's foal crop! Our mares consist of the connemara mare, R.M.F. Irish Moonlight, ("Daisy") who is by *Chiltern Copa of Tower Hill. Daisy is a 7 year old, 15hh bay with wonderful movement. She has been primarily used as a driving horse, and is now in training under saddle. Her 2007 purebred filly, Clary's Tupelo Honey, is a shining example of why we chose to breed Connemaras.
Divinity Fudge, a registered Cremello mare with Arabian and Quarter Horse bloodlines, has produced wonderful halfbred buckskins. Her calm temperament and solid build make an excellent cross with Jack.
Little High Horse and Little Apple Lady, both Hannoverian cross mares, round out our broodmare herd. We have one 2008 super sportpony out of Little High Horse and are excited to produce more.
Jack is available for limited breedings for the 2009 season. Stud fee is $450 LFG. There are also some young connemaras for sale. For more information, please contact us. For more information on the Connemara breed, please visit www.acps.org
